Key West - A visit to the beach

A view looking east
Today was great!!! We started math early but it was worth it. We went to the beach and found some cool shells. I also snorkeled. We saw fish and rocks and even a sea urchin. We had pizza for diner. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. I ate 6 slices (editor’s note: he did not, only three). So basically I ate a whole PIZZA!!! (editor’s note: Fake news alert...) That’s all the stuff that we did today BYE!!!

Our favorite protected area of the beach
Today was such a perfect Key West day with a high of 82 and full sunshine. Such a day cannot be wasted on anything other than the beach. So off we went to our favorite location for sunning, Fort Zachary Taylor State Park beach. There is a partial reef right by the beach that provides some protection from waves and the kids like to swim in the calm water there. As with kids everywhere, they were in the water all day long. We had a beach umbrella and sat in the shade and watched.

Philip and Monique went out for dinner so we had pizza with the kids
The beaches here are behind the outer reef so there's no natural sand, it's been imported from the Bahamas (you need wave action to create a beach). It has a lot of pebbles in spots you have to walk over in reef runner shoes to reach the sand.

On Friday we plan taking Fleetwing out for a sail. The crew has to leave on Saturday, the week has gone by quickly!
