Peter Vey has dozens of painting on display |
We were not paying attention to the cruise line schedule when we decided to go downtown to walk around for a bit. There were two cruise ships in! All the stores and sidewalks were packed. We decided to walk back and see the stores that the tourists don’t go in. One of our favorites is the Gallery on Greene Street which is close to Key West Bight. They feature Peter Vey as the main artist and it’s the best gallery in Key West. The paintings go anywhere from $10K to $60K and they are gorgeous to look at. Peter Vey does not use a brush but rather a pallet knife and the effects he achieves are something to see. The photos do not do him justice.
Many Key Line pies are made at once |
From there we explored shops along the way such as one devoted to making the famous Key Line pies. We had a slice last night at Wahlburgers restaurant on the boardwalk.
Want a fish? |
Next door was a shop selling painted coconuts but these were much better than the usual variety.
Some day we’ll get over to Mallory Square |
At Fleetwing, we enjoyed a nice sunset, a pleasant day!
