Key West - Costs?

Sloppy Joe’s is still here and in full swing - this was a morning photo so it’s not too busy

We all know the Key West is pricy - but just how pricy? The marina we’re staying at, Key West Bight Marina is owned by the town and its prices haven’t kept pace with the increases of the rates in the same harbor. For example, the city marina where we’re at charges $67.67/ft for a month’s stay. A&B marina across the way charges $115/ft and the marina next to it charges $110/ft - so we’re getting a bargain?!

Only $991,000 for this lovely house a steal

During one of our afternoon walks with Hoolie, we went past this house. The going price is $991,000 for a two bedroom, one bath, with a total of 860 ft2. Looks from the photo that it could use a little loving care but then this is Key West.

How many steaks did you want tonight?

Another reminder of prices is in shopping for meat at Fausto’s market. Take a look at the price for steaks! However, the produce is reasonable, just don’t think of buying meat or fish. A fish sandwich in a local restaurant is between $18 to $21, not too bad for Key West. A Cuban sandwich at Cuban Coffee Queen is only $11, up from $7 when we first came years ago but then everything is up in price.

Meanwhile, the weather is great and there’s no charge for sitting in the cockpit and watching the world go by.
