Deltaville - Autopilot is fixed, Fleetwing washed, provisioned, and we head south Tuesday morning

Hoolie is ever anxious to greet and meet

Today, Zimmerman Marine brought in a specialist in marine electronics and after five hours or so, he tracked the problem to a SeaTalk communication issue between the autopilot and the autopilot control head. He bypassed that problem by routing another cable dedicated to just the autopilot and the control head. That brought the autopilot back to life!

We received another visit from our resident Blue Heron

Had I followed the initial recommendation of Zimmerman Marine of replacing the autopilot computer, it would not have solved the problem and I would have been out an additional $1600 plus labor at $105/hour. Nevertheless, the problem now seems to be fixed. We will have a sea trial Wednesday morning before we leave for Norfolk to be sure everything is to spec.

A peaceful sunset

With all the activity at the boat, Ann and Sarah did the shopping today and we are provisioned for our trip south at least as far as Homer Smith. The closures on the #7 Southern Railway bridge by the Gilmerton Bridge have been delayed until next Saturday so we are good to go.

It was so late today that the sea trial was delayed until Wednesday morning at 7:00 am. It will be an early rising day tomorrow! Then we're off to Norfolk!
