The marina is well protected from waves off the Alligator River |
Today was a layover day. It was windy with a lot of rain and no sun. We were secure and comfortable on the facedock so we just stayed an extra day to wait out the bad weather. The weather came from a front that didn't quite make it into a hurricane but still had a lot of rain and wind. It's due to go farther offshore tomorrow and we plan on moving south then to Dowry Creek Marina.
The marina here doesn't seem to have any dockhands so the ones on the docks go out to help other boats in. This used to be a good marina but it's gone downhill since Miss Wanda sold it. However, it's a convenient stopover between Coinjock and Dowry Creek so I think they will continue to do some business.
We are headed for Dowry Creek on Sunday when the weather is supposed to left, somewhat. It will still be overcast but the rain is predicted to stop, we hope.
