Coinjock - We have the prime rib dinner

There were no empty spaces by 7:00 pm and there were two boats across the channel

We left at our leisure from the free dock by Great Bridge since we only had a little over 30 miles to go. We took on 42 gallons of fuel when we arrived, a lot for us but I could see where we were small potatoes compared to the long line of huge powerboats tied up. Diesel was $3.29/gallon, not wonderful but they are the only game in town.

Nothing unusual here, typical at Coinjock

As usual, we were packed in like sardines, less than one or two feet between boats, at most. You have plenty of help coming in but when you want to leave at 7:00 am, no one's around. The wind is due to pipe up in the afternoon so we want to get across the Albemarle in the morning. It's a two hours leg to the start of the crossing and then it's another 1.5 hours to reach the mouth of the Alligator River. Since the wind is out of the northeast, it will be on our aft - if the forecast holds, always iffy.

The prime rib was excellent as usual. Ann and I had the 16 oz portion but Sarah wanted the chicken cullets. We are going to take one last look at the forecast and if it's still a go, we will target to leave on the dot at 7:00 am Friday morning, aiming for the Alligator River Marina.
