Deltaville - At the cottage

Fleetwing is nestled in amongst a crowd of boats, no quick way out - boats have to move

It looks like the remnants of Ian will bless the northern reaches with its presence and give us a wave goodbye but that won’t happen until late Wednesday. With that news, Stingray Point Boat Works will plan to reopen on Thursday and has promised us a launch at 8:00 am. Part two of that dance will have us move over to Regatta Point YC for a day to do the final prep on Fleetwing before leaving for Norfolk on Friday morning.

Our view out front - we watch the wind and waves - and wait

That schedule makes it very tight for me to arrive in Beaufort, NC for the Oct 13 presentation of Going South at Homer Smith. However, I plan on keeping all my commitments in that regard so one way or another, I’ll be there Oct 13th. It ought to be a great event with the 3:00 pm “How to Use Bob423 Tracks”, a buffet dinner at 5:00, followed by the main event at 7:00, “Going South” with the latest news on shoaling and how to avoid going aground. Homer Smith has rented a tent for the festivities and I’m sure it will be first class.

The view from the docks at Regatta Point YC - I’m not ready to go out in that yet

Meanwhile, we’re counting the hours until we can launch. We’ll provision at our local store here in Deltaville (the only store) and restock once we reach Beaufort. All we need now is for the weather to cooperate…
