We leave Brunswick and arrive at Jekyll Island

The dredge with pipes appeared to block the way out! Look at the very small space to the right.

It’s been a busy time in getting Fleetwing ready after a summer of just lazy sitting on stands - time to get back to work for Bob423! There wasn’t any protesting from the boat but there was teak to be done, an inclosure to be put up, and a myriad of other chores to be done.

The office is tucked under a large tree, quaint

Finally, it all came together and we headed out this morning for Jekyll Island. The first obstacle was the dredging that appeared to block the entire entrance to the marina. The barge called us and said to keep coming when we hesitated. There was a small space on the east side of the channel, close to shore that provided a way out.

A quiet evening

Jekyll Island was no problem at 6.2 MLLW but then there had been a north winds for several days and perhaps that helped with the depths. My depth to gateway was not working right so I called the depths to Ann for recording the passage, just like old times before Aqua Map and a WiFi gateway.

We are here for a week to rest up after all the activity in getting Fleetwing ready for another winter down south. We won’t be headed to Key West this year. We’ll try Titusville, Florida for the winter, we like it there.

Greg, good to hear of your new adventure. This is a different year for Ann and I. We had to put Fleetwing up on the hard much earlier than usual due to a shoulder injury last spring. We only made it as far north as Brunswick, Georgia on our way south to Titusville, Florida. In the spring, we’ll travel north on the ICW to Beaufort, North Carolina where we’ll store Fleetwing for the summer.

Be sure to have fun! It’s a great adventure.
