Key West - Filming and a secret garden

Look like the entrance to “Our Secret Garden” from the book

When we went out for our run this morning, police cars were set up to direct traffice away from the waterfront. It seems that there was a filming company making some sort of documentary about Key West. Perhaps it’s connected to Key West’s upcoming 200th anniversary of Key West’s first settlement on 3/25/2022. They had a warning sign set up before you enter the area where the filming was being done warning that if you entered, you gave up any rights to keep your image out of the film.

There were lots of orchids on display, beautiful!

Ann needed some art supplies so we went to the only art supply store in Key West in the afternoon. It’s not very big but she found what she wanted while Hooie and I waited outside. Hoolie doesn’t do well inside stores.

Key West is very crowded with the spring breakers but there are plenty of slips available. I’ll cover this better in another article but I’ve never seen it so empty in the marina. All the slips off our starboard side are empty. Across the fairway, only one or two boats are docked when there’s room for a dozen. I wonder if they are charging too much for dockage? Or the price of fuel is too high ($5.55/gal for diesel today). At any rate, there’s lots of room here if you want to dock at Key West Bight Marina.
