Yesterday afternoon the Mehaffeys arrived after a stop at Lenny's for lunch. One thing visitors do is they force you to clean out the aft cabin. We found nooks and crannies to store stuff we didn't know we had. We had dinner at Skipper's on the deck at Stonington and just about froze to death when the sun went down until we moved inside. We weighed anchor this morning at 5:45 am in order to make outgoing tide and motored to Point Judith but then had 22 miles of a glorious sail averaging 6.0 to 6.5 kts with 12 kts of steady wind off the aft starboard quarter and calm seas. The only trouble was the temperature, it hovered in the mid 60's all day! When we reached Cuttyhunk we were surprised to find about a dozen empty moorings in the inner harbor when we arrived around 1:30 pm. We thought they would be filled to the gills for the 4th of July. A dink into Cuttyhunk to see the Lobster Lady was next with an order for four lobsters cooked to perfection, we just pick them up, nothing fresher, nothing better.
