Looking ahead for weather

Oh, do we ever miss Sarah...
We only make two outside passages: one down the New Jersey coast and the other one from Ft Lauderdale to Miami since there's a bridge we can't fit under in Miami. The marina here is only $0.33/ft per day at the monthly rate so it pays to time your passage south to arrive in Ft Lauderdale with favorable weather for the outside sail to Miami.

Well, what do you expect after 2 months?
If we were to leave Titusville on Tuesday in order to avoid the canyons on a weekend, we would arrive in Ft Lauderdale on Friday evening. Unfortunately, the weekend forecast is not good. They are predicting 4 to 6 ft seas on Saturday which is not what we like. So we will probably sit here until the weather clears. We are about 8 days out of Key West but we'll keep looking at the weather to find a good window. At least the passage to Miami from Ft Lauderdale is not far, only about four hours.

Meanwhile, there's no shortage of things to do on the boat that's sat for two months. It's amazing what a warm, humid climate will do to a boat along with the ever present bird droppings, lots of elbow grease fixes that.

So we're looking at the weather and will depart when we get a favorable forecast.
