First day in Dublin

We enter Ireland airspace! The flight was surprisingly smooth. At least on international flights they are still serving real food. We had expected nothing but rain but were greeted by sunny skies. The temperatures do not get out of the 60's this time of the year (or any part of the year) but the sun was warm. The TSA checks at JFK went quick, less than 10 min in line but at Dublin we were in line for about 1/2 hour.
                                    Great display of flowers everywhere

I had a car reserved from Hertz and we barely fit with all,our luggage into the "large, family sized car". Now in Ireland they drive on the left side of the road which was no big deal, I had done that in several of the Caribbean islands. However, what was a big deal, I discovered, was that the steering wheel was on the right side of the car. Now that was a real adjustment. Learning to,shift with my left hand (manual transmission, mostly all you can get) was okay but I found that my judgment of how much room I had on the left side of the car was way off. I came much too close to several parked cars, I was too far over in the narrow streets. Gradually I compensated but not before causing much concern from the passengers on the opposite side of the car!

                                          Hanging flowers everywhere

The rains finally came in the afternoon and we were dragging. We'll see more of Dublin on Thursday. We'll pick  up the boat on Saturday and experience provisioning in Ireland. So far, so good, a long day.
